Hi, I won’t be posting anything for the next three months as I have to get on and finish my degree. I will still be looking forward to the great posts that you guys put up, a nice distraction from my dissertation.
Hwyl for now my friends!
It’s been cold and sunny here in Aberystwyth for the last few days and today I went out during my lunchtime to get some shots while the sky was blue. Aberystwyth is a small town on the west coast of Wales. In the summer it can get pretty busy down by the sea, but in February its very quiet, just the locals and the students from Aber University. Here are just some shots that I took today…

Deer little Diary: part 2
This week my cat Honey was diagnosed with Feline Diabetes (diabetesmellitus). She had been ill for some time and after several useless visits to Vets they finally found out what was wrong with her. This week I have had to get used to giving her insulin twice a day with a needle! A bit tricky at first but I think I have the hang of it now. She seems a lot better even after only a week of treatment. So much so, that I took a few pictures of her playing with little deer.
Over and out till next time
It was a sunny day in Aberystwyth last Friday. I went up to town during my lunch hour to use up the last of the shots I had left of ‘Impossible’ film loaded into my polaroid camera. I decided to go to the castle as it has some great views of the sea and I thought I might get some good shots as the light was so good that day. I have found that this film hates low light conditions, which is how its mainly been here for the last two months or so, what with all the low cloud and rainy days etc. But the camera is tricky to use as it doesn’t like sunny conditions either! Judging by other peoples images I think that there may be a problem with the camera… I will try to get hold of a different one and use the same type of film again (money permitting!) and see how the results are. Still I’m fairly happy with the ones I took below, they didn’t turn out too bad.
I took this shot looking south towards Tanybwlch beach from Aberystwyth castle. The Sun seems to have bleached out this image but the sea and the headland are still visible.
This is Aberystwyth pier which is still a popular local entertainment venue for the town with a night club, snooker hall and restaurant (and 50,000 + Starlings roosting under it in winter!)
Unfortunately this image came out very dark (I know, low light) but I still think the underside of the pier structure can be perceived. Its also pretty smelly down there what with the 50,000+ Starlings that roost there, that’s a lot of bird poo!
Talk to you again soon!
Deer little Diary: part 1
Ok so this is the first post for my Deer little Diary project and it will be short and sweet.
What a beautiful day today! Finally the gloomy weather has gone and been replaced with enamel blue skies and glorious cold sunshine! This morning I grabbed the camera and little Deer and went out in to the garden to catch some rays. The sun hasn’t been out here in what seems like weeks and it’s so amazing how a bit of sunshine can perk you up. The weather forecast says it’s going to be this way for at least a week or so; happy days…
The Little Deer Diary
Seeing as it’s the New Year I thought I would start with a new photography project in a bid to learn and understand my new DSLR camera (thanks for the camera Mum!) I took photography as a subject module years ago when I went to Art College; but to be honest I have forgotten a lot of the ‘techy’ stuff like f-stops and aperture sizes etc. But I’m hoping with the help and tutelage of family, friends, Blog friends, books and the internet that I can pick it up again!
Ok so what’s the project? Well it’s called ‘The Little Deer diary’ and it will involve me taking one of my most fave animal models out and about with me to the places that I go. I will take him to work, the shops or even to have coffee with friends. I will try to post a Diary story with images once a week; probably on a Friday or Saturday showing what Little Deer has gotten up to.
I don’t know if it will be any good or not, but I hope it will be a way to improve my photography skills and help keep me creative at the same time. I would really like it if you would join me from time to time to see what miniature adventures Little Deer has been experiencing!
The project will start hopefully this Friday or Saturday.
